My Code Of Ethics In the following "dog- or cat" refers to both sexes, puppy - kitten and adult
1. Act in the best interest of the breed in matters of breeding, courtesy and sportsmanship and all dealings with fellow breeders and the general public. 2. Abide by rules of the breed club-CKC-for dogs- TICA and CFA for cats and encourage other to do the same. This includes keeping records of ownership's on dogs or cats owned and bred and abiding by the dog or cats show and registration rules. 3. Represent ourselves and our dogs or cats honestly, and make ourselves available to the owners of dogs or cats we have sold, to answer questions and provide guidance when requested. 4. Will be sure that all dogs or cats used for breeding will be free from communicable disease, in good health and free of known genetic defects which would affect the health, life span of the dogs or cats or their progeny. We will seek to determine if breeding stock is free from defects such as eye normality's by having the eyes tested and certified (CERF) for such. 5. Will not breed for profit, or without expressed intention of bettering the breed. 6. Will offer to take back or assist in finding a new home for any dog or cats sold into a home that the owner subsequently does not want. 7. Will not knowingly sell puppies or kittens or breeding stock to pet dealers, or other commercial sources: nor will be dogs or cats be given as prizes in contests or exploited to the detriment of the breed. Nor will we make our stud dogs or stud cats available to those known to be dealers in dogs, nor will we allow bitches or queens purchased at pet shops to be bred to our studs. 8. We will make every effort to ensure that the dogs or cats we sell go to good and loving homes. All dogs or cats will be sold with proper registration papers and "pet" puppies will be put on a non-breeding agreement with the agreement that they are spayed or neutered around the 6 month age. All kittens will be spayed/neutered before leaving my home. If we sell a dog for show or breeding and that dog proves to be unsuitable for the purpose or has a disqualifying fault according to the CKC standard for the breed, we will urge the owner to spay or neuter the dog after which a replacement will be given. 9. All puppies and kittens sold will be free of disease. They will come with a written health guarantee for a reasonable length of time. |
