Optional Training

There are several events that occur during the training year that cadets may participate in.

Cadets are introduced to aviation first hand through familiarization flights and static display viewing of various aircraft (both military and civilian).

The squadron is scheduled for two days of glider familiarization each training year (weather permitting) at the Netook Gliding Centre. The Netook airport is located north of Olds and Cadets have the opportunity to experience flight without an engine!

We also plan weekend exercises at Camp Worthington west of Caroline to instruct cadets on survival techniques. These weekends are a lot of fun for cadets and give them the opportunity to experience the great outdoors.

Cadets also have the opportunity to go on various citizenship tours. In the past the squadron has gone to Canadian Forces Base Cold Lake, Canadian Forces Base Moose Jaw, Canadian Forces Base Comox, Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt, toured HMCS Winnipeg, the Military Tattoo in Lethbridge, and on other excursions.

The squadron has competed in various sports and drill competitions against other squadrons from Alberta.
